Latest Online Casino and Gambling News
Friday, May 16th, 2008Some news just in is that the American Harvard Medical School have been doing an indepth study into online gambling and the different behaviours between male and female. As if they have nothing better to do with their time!! But that said the results are quite interesting.
Over 40,000 people were included in the study about their online gambling habits… a good cross section of ages and sexes was included in the study to give complete coverage.
Women perform sportsbook gambling better then men. They wager more and more often. A womans average sportsbook bet is €15 whereas on average men will bet only €11. Womens bet frequency is also 15% higher than mens.
The interesting fact, well at least I find it quite interesting, is that people who bet big, higher bet amounts, tend to lose less money. In an online casino I can see how this works. Most of the games are pretty much fixed odds. Gambling €1 to win €2 is not great. Especially on casino slots games. Playing max bet with €25 can win you a small fortune, but max bet on 1 cent is likely to win you perhaps €1. It transpires that those wagering an average of €44 per single event will eventually lose 9% of their total outlay. Those betting less at an average of €1 per bet will lose as much as 18% of the total money they bet.
It goes to show that if you are an online gambler it pays to play with big stakes and bet high. The risks are greater but there is more chance of winning and when you do win you will win an awful lot more.
I wonder what study they will come up with next?
